While this may be a good development for SAD as a party, the political consequences for Sukhbir Badal are not clear. This can cut both ways for him.
Sukhbir Badal displayed humility when questioned by the Jathedars and many Akali supporters feel that this could be a step towards his eventual liberation in the Panthic sphere.
However, it is also an open admission of his involvement in forgiving the person accused of sacrilege and he can be heard on video admitting all the allegations.
This scene will not be easily forgotten.
Badal’s position has also been damaged by Akal Takht’s statement that the current leadership of the party has lost its legitimacy.
Badal was then criticized by some members of the committee formed by the Akal Takht to run the membership drive and conduct elections, such as Iqbal Jhundan, Manpreet Ayali and Gurpratap Wadala.
