How did we find out the truth?: We ran a keyword search in English and Bengali using the terms ‘Bangladesh Hindus banned from jobs’ (Employment of Hindus is banned in Bangladesh) to see more details.
-
These searches did not return any reliable results from Indian or Bangladeshi sources.
-
We also used Home Affairs Advisor Chaudhary’s purported quote about giving preference to Muslims in government jobs as a search term to find out if and when he had said it.
-
Again, the search did not yield any reliable results.
-
not even from the country website The Home Ministry neither has any such announcement nor has it social media handle,
-
However, the Facebook page of the press wing of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus shared a Post on January 2, 2025, which contained a screenshot of the claim.
-
In this post he described the post as “completely false” and said that “the quote from the Home Affairs Advisor mentioned in the post is also false.”
conclusion: The claim that the Bangladesh government has banned Hindu citizens from government jobs is false.
