Pawan K Verma, author and diplomat, in Hindustan Timeswrites about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s contention that political independence came to India on 15 August 1947, but true cultural independence remains elusive.
He said, “I do not agree with many things of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, but I have no hesitation in supporting what is right in my view. Recently in a speech in Indore, he had said that we can get political freedom on 15th August. , 1947, but even then we remained prisoners of the legacy left by colonialism and were not truly free in the cultural sense,” says Verma.
