Amid local body elections in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is supporting the ‘fight’ against ‘Love Jihad’, ‘Land Jihad’ and ‘Spit Jihad’. In at least 10 clips of his speeches that we analyzed, he strongly promoted these narratives.
Moreover, CM Dhami in his speeches has not only used dogmatic statements against Muslims but has also consistently talked about the threat to the demography of ‘Devbhoomi’. According to him, the solution is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claims that the party is working to preserve the culture of Uttarakhand.
With most of the attention focused on Delhi Assembly elections, CM Dhami’s comments have been ignored by the media. Municipal corporation elections were held in the state on January 23 and the opposition has accused BJP of getting the names of voters deleted.
Dhami is the only Chief Minister to hold the second consecutive term since the formation of Uttarakhand. He has appealed to the public to vote for his “triple engine” government in the local body elections.
