For the last few central budgets, the middle class is feeling heat, especially with taxation, etc. How is the middle class of Delhi separately different from the Delhi model of India?
First of all, I think you are right. The fact is that India’s middle class is feeling heat as it is the idea of the Gujarat model. The Gujarat model is only giving grand encouragement and relief to rich industrialists and corporates. In the Delhi model, we have done a lot of things for the middle class. Delhi’s inflation is around 2.2% while India’s inflation is around 4.8%.
The free power is for 70 percent of the population. Electricity is highly subsidized for another 20 percent. Therefore, the middle class belongs to that 90%. About 60 percent of the water is free for population.
Mohalla Clinic – People go on tertiary care which is free. We have a Farishte plan for accidents.
Those who talk for free and target the AAP model incorrectly, they forget that the money we are giving in terms of profit to the poor and middle classes is that we have invested in the infrastructure. . In Delhi, in the last ten years, we have built about 38 flyovers. Earlier in 65 years, 62 flyovers were built.
Therefore, you can see the rate on which we have expanded the infrastructure of Delhi. The Delhi Metro network has doubled in the last ten years, it took 17 years in the earlier metro network. We have brought 2000 electric bouses. They are all contributing to reduce pollution and help in the environment.
We have four lakh CCTV cameras installed in Delhi, which is the highest density of CCTV cameras anywhere in the world. We have installed four lakh streetlights. Therefore, we spent a lot on infrastructure. The last element I would say that there is corruption. The biggest reason for the middle class is a blasphemy of politicians and government because they feel that everyone is corrupt. The birth of the Aam Aadmi Party was out of the anti -corruption movement.
And the very interesting thing is that the moment we came to power, the anti-corruption branch was taken away from us, the Lokpal bill was stopped by the Center. But what we did after this is something that the middle class in Delhi only experiences.
