Every year the leaders start from the very expensive city of Davos in Switzerland. Here billionaires gather to decide the policy of different nations. The desire to receive foreign funds for their respective states in the name of development is visible among Indian leaders, even if their political identities are different. Last week, five Union Ministers and three Chief Ministers were seen interacting with global giants along with more than 100 babus. It costs around Rs 50 lakh per person for membership fees and other expenses.
Prabhu Chawla writes that ever since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, he, his ministers and BJP chief ministers have been exploiting the world’s treasures along with their highly competitive counterparts from other parties. Even as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi was engaged in this work. Leaders like Devendra Fadnavis, A Revanth Reddy, Mamata Banerjee, Bhupendra Patel, Yogi Adityanath, Mohan Charan Manjhi, Mohan Yadav, MK Stalin, Bhajan Lal Sharma, Himanta Biswa Sarma, N Chandra Babu Naidu have claimed capital investment by tweeting. Most of the foreign tours have been from BJP ruled states whose mission is to promote Modidiplomacy and Modinomics. According to unofficial estimates, MoUs worth more than Rs 50 lakh crore have been signed by various ministers and chief ministers in the last 10 years. The reality is that these announcements have been more on paper.
