For me, the most important thing is sympathy and kindness. I try to create a meaningful difference in people’s lives, especially those who are deprived and I cannot express myself on the platforms that I can.
My experiences from cancer have given me a unique perspective on health policies and conflicts faced by patients in India. I am able to understand the interval of the system even more intimate.
Cancer is not a notable disease in India. This means that we are reducing the actual burden of the disease. If we fail to accept the full scale of the problem, how can we deal with this danger?
Another major challenge is that many pharmaceutical companies are reluctant to bring their clinical trials to India.
For example, the fourth generation anaplastic lymphoma is a land research company in developing the Kinayas. Or alk Inhibitors that can be a lifetime for people like me, our cancer should be resistant to lorlatinib (third generation inhibitory and currently available in the market).
However, after the United States and Europe, the company has chosen the world’s largest patient population IE to test in a small city-state like Singapore, ignoring India.
Cancer is not just a physical illness. People often do not realize tremendous mental, emotional, social and financial toxicity that comes with it.
For example, Lorlatinib can cost Rs 1.5 to 2.5 lakh per month per month, which is necessary to take. This is just a medicine. When you do the factor in the costs of diagnostics, doctors visit, and additional medicines to manage side-effects, it becomes completely ineffective for most of us, not only poor but even even poor Also middle class.
Why can’t we develop innovative drugs that are accessible to 1.4 billion people? I advocate policies focusing on improving cancer awareness, initial detection and access to inexpensive remedies from passion.
I open my story openly in conferences, hospitals and awareness events because I want people to know that cancer is not a certain death sentence – and life beyond diagnosis can be meaningful and effective.
