Samajwadi Party and BJP competition
This seat is part of Ayodhya district, from where SP’s Awadhesh Prasad won by defeating Lallu Singh of BJP in the Lok Sabha elections held last year. Four months after the inauguration of Ram temple, the BJP had to face defeat, which was a major setback for the party.
Mayawati’s BSP has not fielded any candidate from reserved Milkipur seat. On the other hand, the Congress has supported its ally Samajwadi Party in the India alliance.
BJP won after 26 years in 2017
Milkipur assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh came into existence in 1967. So far 17 assembly elections have been held here. The Samajwadi Party has won the most 6 times. The second number is CPI, Mitrasen Yadav has become an MLA four times from here. Later he joined SP.
If we talk about BJP, then the party won this seat for the first time in 1991. Mathura Prasad Tiwari became an MLA from here. After this, the party had to wait for 26 years for the second win. In 2017, Gorakhnath of BJP defeated SP’s Awadhesh Prasad by more than 28 thousand votes.
The BSP has won only one win here. Whereas the Congress has not won a single election here since 1989.
