After returning to power in Delhi after 27 years, the BJP is now convinced that it can neutralize AAP as a threat. It has given rise to speculation that it can try to divide AAP in Punjab, so Bajwa alleges that Maan Eknath may end as Shinde.
The BJP has also felt on its behalf that it is not able to grow systematically in Punjab, to the extent that it hoped that this is the only way in the state that is divided into one or one of the other 3 parties. Can State (AAP, Congress and SAD).
However, it is easier than three reasons, compared to.
FirstThe BJP in Punjab is very weak compared to Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, it is the strongest party for more than a decade. In Punjab, it has only two MLAs and no MP. Therefore, the Shinde model may not be possible and BJP will need the Arunachal Pradesh model.
What is this model? A brief recurrence: Congress won the 2014 Arunachal Pradesh elections with a large -scale majority. All except CM Nabam Tuki separated from the party after two years of Congress and People’s party joined Arunachal. Most of these methods were merged with BJP a few months later. The BJP has already tried this in some way with Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Public Congress, which was later merged with the BJP. The party proved to be a complete non-starter. Now it remains to be seen whether the BJP tries the same experiment with Punjab AAP.
SecondAAP has so far been relatively safe from partition since coming to power in Punjab in 2022. It has not seen any major defects of individual MLAs. Even in Delhi, the AAP did not leave any major partition except for some leaders joining BJP before the 2025 assembly elections.
thirdThe negativity towards the BJP in Punjab may not be as fast during the protest of 2020-21 farmers, but it is very present, especially among the rural Sikh population.
Therefore, if any AAP, or even the Congress or even for that case, makes a hand to join hands with the BJP, it will at least come to a political cost among rural voters. For example, BJP’s strongest candidate Ravneet Bittu performed disappointing in rural areas in Ludhiana in the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab.
