This social base sometimes requires a reliable political family for its own livelihood.
Remote-left and far-flung parties have less dynastic succession, as their politics is often governed by ideological or movement-based conversion rather than caste-based networks. On the other hand, centralist parties have more space for dynastic politics as they rely on electoral stability and long -term social grounds.
Take the example of regional parties like AIADMK. After Jayalalithaa passed, the party unable to produce a natural heir within a dynastic structure. Oppose it with DMK, where Stalin successfully took over from Karunanidhi, Samajwadi Party, where Akhilesh Yadav changed power despite the initial internal resistance, or the Janata Dal (secular), who has given high positions to both HD Deve Law and his son HD Kumaraswamy.
Dynasty politics in India can be seen as a symptom rather than a disease. It is a customization of politics for a political economy where caste structures shape leadership routes, where family networks provide stability in an unstable system, and the heritage of political capital is one of the few methods for low-caste leaders to maintain prolonged impact.
Their success or failure will not be determined by their offspring alone, but how well navigate the obstacles, expectations and responsibilities that come with it.
An one thought can practice and imagine the consequences of Tejashvi Yadav’s defeat, which will also mean that RJD’s defeat. Will be Yadav Very Either JD (U) or BJP has to be shifted, an option that will depend on who every Yadav is an immediate rival of the voter-family.
Muslims will have to take shelter under JD (U) alone and hope that its leadership will follow secular principles and protect them from Hindutva rage.
