Limiting and caste census works well as political rhetoric, but the real challenge is improving the quality of governance. The author strongly believes that India needs “States Brake-Up Commission” which will make India a union of about 50 states like America.
More important, there is no unbroken and homogeneous composition in large states of India. Cultures, dialects, food and more are different, as seen while traveling across India. Even when conducting opinions and outdoors, Cvoter and other reliable agencies divide the states into many different regions. Election results, also, reveal different voting options between areas within the same state.
There is recent empirical evidence that supports this argument. Jharkhand, carved from Bihar in 2000, is now double the per capita income of Bihar. Chhattisgarh’s per capita income is about 15 percent more than Madhya Pradesh, while Uttarakhand is 2.5 times more than Uttar Pradesh. Small states like Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab have per capita income above national average.
But politicians shouted for only suggestions to break the states to shout “on my dead body”, this question arises: Who will take the cat?
