In the 2024 general elections, caste census became one of the points of political debate, which was started by Tejashwi and Nitish Kumar and later taken by Rahul Gandhi. It seemed that Mandal 2.0 was likely to be, where OBCs in UP and Bihar could be consolidated behind the opposition alliance.
It did not happen directly due to the highly backward classes (EBC) constituency, which the BJP has cultivated for years, as well as the presence of several OBC parties based on individual castes or small castes. The Lok Sabha results of Bihar reflected it, while in Uttar Pradesh, the SP’s better ticket distribution among different sections of OBC was credited with winning it.
By “Dalit political question”, I am Dr. I am referring to the figures of Ambedkar, constitution, and reservation – which Ambedkarite parties have nurtured through rhetoric, icography, symbolism and mobilis in the last several decades.
Constitution and reservation have also become central for a section of political OBC groups. As a result, the story of a threat to constitution and reservation has affected a part of Dalit and OBC voters, which leads them to the SP and Congress in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections.
In addition, Dr. In popular politics as a figure as Ambedkar is being discussed more than ever, from the creation of grand idols to arguing about the voice in Parliament that should be named. However, these political brainstorms and debates are happening with parties like BSP on the perimeter, with an Ambedkarite heritage to popularize Ambedkar’s figures, the subject of reservation and the symbol of the Constitution.
The criticism of SP and Congress’s BSP is that these parties were essentially similar to the BJP and lacked real commitment for the Constitution, Ambedkar and reservation. Criticism focused more on his intentions rather than offering a strong story that could demonstrate his political strength and the ability to win the election.
Even more importantly, this criticism is very valid when it comes to the creation of Congress and BJP, but there are many differences in their organizational strength and their philosophy for the country.
