Comparing religious practices and suggesting one should yield the other, the government authorities risk violating constitutional secularism. If an officer or politician starts weighing the importance of religious events, where does it stop?
Historical reference also matters. The Mughal emperors including Akbar and Bahadur Shah Zafar celebrated Holi with Hindus, as written by Sufi saints like Bulle Shah, who wrote:
,Holi khelungi keh kar bismillah, naam nabi ki ratan chadhi.,
(Holi I will play, in the name of Allah, as my jewelry with the name of the Prophet.)
However, True Harmoni means celebrating festivals with choice, not force. The role of the police and the government is not to implement religious hierarchy, but to ensure that all the rights are protected.
So the real question is: Can the state be really secular if it decides which religious practice is more important?
