Abhishek Bachchan is one of the most recognised stars in Bollywood. He is the son of megastar Ambitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Despite his filmy legacy, the actor managed to win over audiences’ love with his impressive acting skills, versatility, impeccable screen presence and dialogue delivery. Moreover, his path to fame wasn’t a rosy one either. In a recent interview, Abhishek Bachchan recalled the struggles he faced in the Hindi film industry that eventually made him leave showbiz.
Abhishek Bachchan reveals how Amitabh Bachchan’s words made him fight for his career
Abhishek Bachchan has never shied away from admitting the setbacks he faced in his acting career. He recently sat down for an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit and revealed that he faced a major rough patch at the beginning of his career. For those unaware, Abhishek debuted with J.P Dutta’s Refugee, which failed to perform at the box office along with his subsequent films. The actor mentioned that the initial failure prompted him to quit the profession. In his words:
“I have been in such situations. At the start of my career, I was going through a very rocky time with my films. No matter what I was trying, I wasn’t able to achieve whatever I wanted to achieve and match the standards that I had set for myself.”
After not being able to meet his expectations for himself, Abhishek was determined to leave the film industry. Consequently, he shared the news with his father, Amitabh Bachchan and explained that despite his efforts, things weren’t working for him. However, Big B gave an unexpected response and mentioned that he didn’t bring up Abhishek to quit when things get hard; rather, he wanted him to fight, which reinstated Abhishek’s determination to continue, and the rest is history. Recalling his father’s words, the Guru actor said:
“He was amazing. He said, ‘I am telling you as an actor and not your father, you have a long way to go, you are nowhere near the finished product, but you are improving with every film. Just keep working, and you will get there. And, as I was walking out of the room, he said, that I did not bring you up to be a quitter, so keep fighting. That meant a lot.”

In the same conversation, Abhishek Bachchan shared that his family and friends have always supported and encouraged him to perform better. He added that parents are always protective of their children, and sometimes it can get somewhat negative. But parents always believe in their kids. Sharing what he will say if his daughter will come to him about something he thinks she can’t do, he said:
“As a parent, if my daughter comes up to me today and I wouldn’t be sure about something she wants to do, but if I see the conviction in her belief, then that gives me the conviction to say that she is going to be able to do it because she is not going to give up.”
