Prime Minister Narendra Modi must have breathed a sigh of relief on 8 February as he conquered the government of the capital city – a stronghold that removed his fist in 2014 after capturing India’s political place.
His lamp was mixed as he held Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in 2014 and 2019, but a few months later, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wiped the state elections, which was one upwards with bile to reduce Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The irony was inexplicable – BJP’s parents/predecessors Jana Sangh won Delhi about half a century ago in the teeth of the national dominance of the Indian National Congress. While the Jan Sangh was a cipher across India, it actually claimed a “Chief Minister” in the capital.
