A disturbing video is sweeping the internet showing a man eating a dead rat on the street.

The shocking footage, filmed earlier this month, captures a man perched on breezeblocks along 149th Street and Third Avenue in the Bronx, nonchalantly devouring the rodent as stunned bystanders react in horror.
“This is f**king unbelievable, look at this s**t,” a woman exclaims in the background of the viral clip, which has racked up millions of views on Instagram and Twitter.
“Nah. I gotta get out of The Bronx,” she adds as the man pulls fur from the rat before taking a bite.
“He f**king ate it,” another woman gasps, echoing the disbelief of onlookers who can be heard reacting in shock.
Social media erupted with appalled responses. However, others used the video to critique city conditions and the lack of resources for the unhoused population. Homelessness in New York has hit record levels, with over 120,500 people in shelters and thousands more living on the streets, per the Coalition for the Homeless. Estimates suggest over 350,000 New Yorkers lack stable housing.
The identity of the man is not known.
