KFC is giving American fans a reason to celebrate with the U.S. debut of its popular Mashed Potato Poppers. The crispy, golden bites of mashed potatoes have already gained a cult following overseas and are now hitting U.S. menus for the first time.
The Mashed Potato Poppers are the star of KFC’s new Dunk It Bucket, which also includes chicken tenders, fries, and a choice of dipping sauces. For those craving just the poppers, they’ll also be available à la carte — served with five pieces and a side of gravy for dunking.

Described by KFC as “creamy mashed potatoes golden fried for the perfect crunchy bite,” the poppers were a fan favorite in Australia, where they were sold under the name “Mashies.” The item made a limited-time return to Australian menus in 2023 after a 12-year hiatus, following strong demand from fans. Now, KFC is answering the call stateside.
“This is a dream come true for sauce lovers,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, president of KFC U.S., noting that the Dunk It Bucket is the brand’s first new bucket offering in nearly a decade.
The Dunk It Bucket will be available for $7, with a larger Double Dunk It Bucket option priced at $25. KFC is also marking the occasion with limited-edition “KFC Dunk It” merchandise, including mini basketball hoops, stickers, and apparel.
The Mashed Potato Poppers are available for a limited time.
