After the post went viral on the internet, netizens wondered what went so wrong in the Malik family. Amaal, in his post, revealed that he has been clinically diagnosed with depression. Now, his mother, Jyothi, shared her first statement on the matter.

After Amaal accused his family of his condition and belittling him, his mother, Jyothi Malik, shared her statement with the media. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Jyoti stated that the media doesn’t need to be involved in all this, as whatever Amaal has chosen, he had put it forward. She said:
“I don’t think you (media) need to be involved in all this. Whatever he has put is his choice. I am sorry. Thank you.”

Families are complicated! We cannot live without them, and still, there are times when we cannot live together. And it seems like Amaal has been through the same rollercoaster ride of emotions and family dynamics. After officially severing all his ties with his family, Amaal took to his Instagram stories. He thanked everyone for coming to his support.
But in his note, Amaal further urged people not to harass his family. Amaal also requested not to sensationalise the news and give negative headlines in these vulnerable times. He wrote:
“Thank you for the love and support it truly means a lot, but I would request the media portals to not harass my family… Please don’t sensationalise & give negative headlines to my vulnerability… It’s a request. It’s taken a lot for me to open up & it is a very tough time for me…I will always love my family but for now, from afar. Nothing changes between us brothers, Armaan and I are one and nothing can come between us. Love and Peace.”

Amaal took to his Instagram handle and posted pictures notes, announcing being diagnosed with clinical depression. He further blamed their parents for the rift between him and his brother, Armaan. He stated that their actions have created a huge distance between the siblings. He penned:
“This journey has been amazing for both of us, but my parents’ actions have distanced us brothers from each other. All this has forced me to take steps for myself, as it has left a very deep scar in my heart.”
The singer added that he felt inadequate and resentful despite his achievements over the years. He has been made to feel less. Amaal added that he is cutting off contact with his family for his own good. However, the post has been deleted.
