Samyuktha Narayanan is the name that has sent shockwaves around the world. The seven-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu’s Madurai is currently dominating the social media platforms for her incredible achievement in the Korean martial arts and combat sport, Taekwondo. For the uninitiated, the Guinness World Records official website announced in January 2025 that Samyuktha is the world’s youngest Taekwondo instructor.

The report further shared that the little girl from Madurai started practising Taekwondo right from the age of three. Samyuktha Narayanan developed a strong inclination towards Taekwondo because of her family’s direct involvement in the sport. For the uninitiated, Samyuktha’s parents run a Taekwondo academy by the name Madurai Taekwondo Academy. Samyuktha’s parents, Shruthy and Narayanan, are also renowned Taekwondo champions and have multiple records to their name.
While growing up, when Samyuktha Narayanan was exposed to Taekwondo because it was her parents’ profession, she instantly fell in love with the sport. Once her parents were convinced that Samyuktha had developed a deep interest in the sport, they started giving her proper training. Due to her parents’ combined efforts, today Samyuktha has made every Indian proud with her incredible achievement. Taekwondo is practised in more than 209 countries, and to become the youngest instructor among the 80 million practitioners is truly a magical feat for Samyuktha.
In a conversation with the Guinness World Records committee, Samyuktha Narayanan talked about her landmark achievement. She shared that she has always wanted to win a GWR title, just like her parents. The youngster also added that after winning the GWR title, she felt like a star as everyone from her school congratulated her and her pictures were also published in the newspaper. Opening up about the emotions she felt after winning the title, she said:
“I used to admire the Guinness World Records certificates achieved by my dad and mum hanging on the walls in our home. It was my goal to achieve a GWR title and hang my certificate on the same wall. After I achieved my GWR title, I received appreciation from my friends, family and teachers. My photos and videos were published in the newspaper and [shown on] television. I felt like a star in my city.”

Further, in the same interview with GWR, Samyuktha Narayanan also revealed that she trains in the morning and then goes to school. After coming back from school, she completes her homework, and in the evening, she works as a Taekwondo instructor. Samyuktha also added that she feels proud to stand as an instructor with kids of her age. However, she also admitted that there are times when she learns something from them. She said:
“I feel proud of myself standing as an instructor before kids of my age. Sometimes I also learn from them. I wake up early in the morning and start my training with the other students. I do my homework as soon as I come home.”
How did Samyuktha Narayanan achieve a black belt in Taekwondo? A look into her extensive training program
To achieve such a huge feat, Samyuktha Narayanan went through an intense training program that her parents designed. According to a report in Guinness World Records, she did a lot of intense exercises as a part of her workout with a sharp focus on Taekwondo. A 5-kilometer run was also a part of her training program, which was around 2 hours daily. Courtesy of this focused training program, she graduated as a black belt holder from the World Taekwondo Headquarters, located in South Korea.
