In the era of reviving Rama, Chitra Banerjee has revived Sita in his latest novel, Karamati forest.
He said, “Draupadi is being given a voice, I wanted to focus on Sita, which is a real icon of Indian femininity. It seemed more time looking at everything happening in the country,” she said.
On the banks of the Jaipur Sahitya Festival, the author spoke of his novel, which has broken the popular narratives of the epic, Ramayana, and breathed a new lease of life for both Rama and Sita’s characters.
