Quint: Have you been diplomat about your life (in your autobiography) or are you clear?
Hamid Ansari: I think I have been very clear. (But) I am not clear about matters that were addressed to me as part of the state’s secrets.
Quint: When you talk about minority issues you are quite vocal, but not provocative. Is that trend followed in the written word?
Hamid Ansari: I think so too. I have expressed myself quite clearly if you read them – what are the problems of minorities, what are the rights of minorities, where there are obstacles, where there are failures – both government and minorities themselves …
Quint: Is identity politics one of the problems?
Hamid Ansari: By the way, identity politics is a fact of life. You cannot run away from it. Now, knowledge lies in accepting it and adjusting it …
