One of the famous villains of the Hindi cinema is Raza Murad who has done more than 250 Hindi films. He is the son of the late Murad, who was the first cousin of veteran actress, Zeenat Aman. Raza Murad is also the nephew of late, Amanullah Khan, the writer of Pakeezah and Mughal-e-azam. It was in the 1960s when the actor began his journey in Hindi cinema. From playing the role of a brother in films to essaying the role of a villain, it was in the 1980s that Raza proved his worth as an actor to the nation. Apart from doing movies that were critically acclaimed, Raza’s love story was no less than a movie.
Raza Murad’s love story with Shahruk Murad
The actor, once in an interview with the Quint, shared details of his love story. He revealed that he had not even seen the picture of Shahruk as he had full faith in the choice of his mom. He shared that he had an arranged marriage, and surprisingly, even after their wedding date got fixed, he did not see the picture of Shahruk as he had full hope that his mom would select the right girl for him. In Raza Murad’s words:
“Meri jo shadi hui hai vo, arrange marriage hui meri. Aur tajjub ki baat toh ye hain ki har cheez settle hone ke baad, shadi ki date settle hone ke baad bhi, maine apni biwi ko dekha nahi tha. Dekhne ki baat toh door hai, maine unki tasveer bhi nahi dekhi thi. Kyuki maine tasveer bhi nahi dekhi thi aur meri mata ji, meri waalida ne unhe pasand kiya tha.”
Raza Murad also shared that when his and Shahruk’s wedding date was finalised, he had gone to Bhopal for a day. He shared that his wife was his mom’s choice and knew that she could never go wrong with making Raza Murad’s life decisions.
When Raza Murad recognised Shahruk from a distance in their first meeting
Raza, going ahead in the interview, shared that he visited Shahrukh from Delhi to Bhopal. She used to stay there, and the veteran star recollected how she was standing with a dry rose. He also recollected how Shahruk had to go to Bhopal for a few days after their marriage, which made her cry and the actor also became emotional. Raza Murad had shared:
“Toh main Delhi se aaya ek din ke leye. Jaisey he mai Bhopal airport pe utra. Ye Bhopal ki rehne wali hai. Aur exit ki taraf main ja raha tha toh door mujhe ek ladki dikhayi di. Jiske hath main ek surk gulab ka phool tha. Aur maine kaha, ho na ho, ye meri hone wali biwi hai. Aur vo mera guess sahi nikla.”

Raza Murad shared that after his marriage to Shahruk, she remembered her parents, and visited them for 15 days. When he dropped her at the airport, she could not stop crying a river. He shared:
“Badi achi yaadein hai kuch. Jab pehli baar ye Bhopal jaa rahi thi 15 din ke leye. Enhe apne maa-baap ki yaad aa rahi thi. Toh mai enhe airport chod ne gaya. Aur enki aakhoo main jo moote-moote aasu aaye, juda hote waqt vo mai aaj tak bhula nahi. Aaj bhi jab mai vo yaad karta hu toh mai bada jazbati ho jata hu. Abhi bhi ho raha hu. Mai bada emotional hojata hu. Ye hamari love story hai, ye hamari kahani hai.”
When a girl bit Raza Murad
During his teenage years, Raza Murad had proposed to a girl but she had rejected her. According to a report by Patrika Entertainment, the actor liked a girl in his heyday but did not confess to her. His friends motivated him to propose her. He got carried away and kissed her on the cheeks and she replied by biting his nose. Raza could not stop crying as his nose was profusely bleeding. The girl ran away breaking his heart.
Raza Murad and Shahruk’s love story seemed like an old ancient tale of having unconditional faith in the institution of arranged marriage.
