When the tough times came, Juhi felt that the team was facing loss because of the black jerseys that were made for the team. She felt that the colour black got them bad luck. It was in the documentary, Living with KKR when Jay Mehta, Juhi’s husband and co-owner of KKR, shared how she was superstitious. KKR had seen a rough season in South Africa and had tasted defeat. Juhi had told her husband, Jay that it was because of the colour black. Jay shared:
“After we came back from South Africa with our famous losing streak, Juhi suddenly tells me, ‘I am superstitious about black as a colour and I think black is unlucky for KKR.’”
Juhi had convinced Jay that the black colour was to blamed for the continuous loss of KKR. Jay shared that he and Shah Rukh Khan initially did not believe in her concern and he said King Khan had reacted by saying, “What rubbish”?

When Juhi appeared in the documentary, she shared her uneasy feelings about the black jerseys that the players of Kolkata Knight Riders were wearing. She felt that the colour was not at all adding positivity to the growth of the team, and she felt that the jersey colour had to be changed, hence, from black, it was made purple. Juhi said:
“I had something about that black. I was like, ‘This colour is not contributing to the energy of the team.’ When things were really bad, I came down hard on this. I said, ‘No, we have to change the colour, not black.’”

Juhi followed her gut feeling, and the fortune of the KKR team in the IPL changed, and they tasted winning steak. Juhi had earlier shared that she was never fascinated with the golden and black jersey combination. She had also once at a Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry event, revealed of not know anything about running a cricket franchise. She used to run to Shah Rukh’s home for meetings. Everything was done in-house—from the jingle to the uniform. Shah Rukh made it black and gold, and she was not happy with it. The actress found the colour to be inauspicious.
