In Kolkata, the LGBTQ+ community made a progress towards inclusion, as the city saw its biggest similar-sex wedding on Sunday (July 3). Fashion designer Abhishek Ray and digital marketing expert Chaitanya Sharma tied the knot at a detailed Hindu ceremony. The groom was particularly influenced by the priest, who encouraged his decision to get married and called them the torch worker of the society. Ray told a publication, “He (priest) said that he could not get a lot of Durga Puja projects this year. He knows that he could be criticized by his colleagues, but he was ready to stand by so pure and auspicious.”
