The reports suggest that 80 percent of people in India are Hindus and 15 percent by Muslims.
The population in India is more than three times decades after independence. Of the 36.1 crowns in the 1951 census, in 2011 there were more than 120 crowns consisting of several religions, mostly Hindus. Reports suggest that 80 percent of people in India are Hindus and 15 percent of people living in India are Muslims. But India will overtake Indonesia as a country with the largest number of Muslims in 2050, the US Studies Center said. So far, Hindus will become the third largest population in the world. India is expected to have 311 million Muslims in 2050 (11% of the total number of global), with the largest number of Muslims in the world. Currently, Indonesia is the largest number of Muslims in the world.
Most Hindus in the world already live in India. In 2010, 94 percent of Hindus lived in India. This is expected to remain faithful in 2050, when 1.3 billion Hindus is forecast in the country. India will still remain multicultural and multi-religious nation, where followers of different religions demonstrate unity in diversity and live in the world.
Expected that Muslims will grow faster than Hindus
This is because Muslims have the youngest average and the highest birth rate among major religious groups in India. In 2010, the average age of Indian Muslims was 22 years, compared to 26 for Hindus and 28 for Christians. In addition, Muslim women on average 3.2 children per woman, compared to 2.5 for Hindus and 2.3 for Christians.
In connection with these factors, the Muslim community of India will expand faster than its Hindu population, will grow from 14.4% in 2010 to 18.4% in 2050. But even the increase in Hindus will be more than three in four Indians (76.7%) in 2050.
