Amidst large -scale arrest shocks and sudden demolitions of protest sites, the remaining protesters seemed to be in a chaos.
In Sakiwalli, BU (S) Ikai Mahasacheev (Office-Bieror) Taralok Singh led the protests to burn the effigies of Bhagwant Mann. “This government is as anti-agricultural-anti-agricultural. They are all supporters corporates,” Tarlok said. Both BKU (ES) and KMM members are spitting protests and sitting on hunger strike.
The detained farmer leaders are also protesting.
Gurdeep Singh of BKU (S) said that some farmers detained from Khanauri are in Patiala Jail, while some farmers have been kept in Ropper. Thirteen of the protesters lodged in Ropper was taken to one in the beginning Station In the kulli. Gurmeet claims that the detained farmers started their hunger strike against arrests in Kurali and continued fasting in Ropper.
In retaliation for arrest, a large -scale farmers’ movement, however, is unlikely.
Senior SKM leader Harjit Ravi, expressing solidarity for the arrested leaders, developed the question of how the SKM was reacting to the arrest and AAP action against the farmers. He said that the SKM has called for a march to the Punjab Legislative Assembly on 26 March – and has planned to protest outside his district headquarters on March 28 to express objection to the treatment of senior farmer leaders. But a major step after meeting with representatives of all groups will be fixed collectively.
Ravi said that while all farmer leaders and groups want the same things, they prioritize different demands which are different time.
“All this is in a difference in the charter of every group,” he told The Quint,
Meanwhile, AAP said that farmers were removed to increase employment in Punjab and this protest was causing economic losses. Maan Sarkar also said that if farmers had any problem with the Center, they should protest in Delhi, not in Punjab. Condemning such a statement, the SKM leader said that the Punjab government’s stance was “anti-farmer”-and that it was baseless to accuse farmers of creating problems due to blockade.
He reminded that this was the government that prevented farmers from going to Delhi for calling Delhi.
Organizations of other farmers are alsoware of AAP.
On March 21, the Punjab government called for another meeting of farmer leaders. This time, the farmers were more careful. SKM opted not to appear.
Tarsem Singh of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Union Told The Quint Even groups such as BKU (Ugrahan)-who were not part of the protest of farmers over a year over the Shambu and Khanouri border points between Haryana and Punjab-became doubtful about the government and chose not to respond to the government’s call.
“AAP has shown its true colors,” Tarsem said.
Back to protest sites, the mood remains serious. The farm leaders reminded the ‘Shaheed Jayati’ (anniversary of death) of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on 23 March.
Bana Brar said that in a way, the arrest of leaders has already recalled the legacy of freedom fighters.
