Ben Affleck has broken his silence on his high-profile split from Jennifer Lopez, a month after they became officially divorced.
In a new cover story with GQ, Affleck maintained he had “nothing but respect” for his ex.
“Yeah, there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” he said.

“The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no: ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
He said as he “get[s] older” there is no “So-and-so did this” or “This was the big event.”
“It sounds more like a couple’s therapy session, which – you would tune out of someone else’s couple’s therapy after a while,” he explained.

“For one thing, you start going, ‘Okay, clearly this person has got these issues. Clearly they have these issues’,” the actor continued.
“And the reason I don’t want to share that is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable.”
In another part of the interview, Affleck opened up about his involvement in Lopez’s 2024 documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
Affleck spoke about how his ex “handled celebrity more adeptly” than him and his “temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private.”

But the actor made it clear, “I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture.”
Affleck and Lopez first tied the knot in July 2022.

Lopez filed for divorce from the Good Will Hunting star two years later in August 2024.
Their divorce was settled in January 2025. They became officially divorced and singled a month later.
