Dabboo Ratnani shared the pictures he clicked of the veteran actress on his Instagram handle on March 25, 2025. The actress looked ethereal in the gorgeous attire, which reminded us of her 1981 musical drama, Umrao Jaan, and we have to admit that Rekha still looked as vibrant and beautiful as she did 44 years ago when the film was released.
Rekha wore a traditional hot pink anarkali suit from the shelves of Manish Malhotra for the photoshoot. The vibrant shade of pink adorned with intricate gold embroidery and zari work added to the regalness of her look. The voluminous skirt of the anarkali was adorned with floral details and paisley motifs. The broad embroidery at the hem of the anarkali added stars to the attire. The blouse of the kurta featured brocade designs with golden detailing and elbow-length sleeves with embroidery. The actress paired the anarkali with a matching churidar pyjama with golden detailing. A dupatta was gracefully draped on her head, which showcased gold embroidery and zari work.

For her accessories, Rekha opted for elaborate traditional jewellery. She donned a stunning multi-layer necklace adorned with kundan, emerald-stone beads and pearls. A matching matha patti was paired with a kundan maang teeka that elegantly sat on her forehead. Traditional layered jumkas are connected to her hair by an elegant chain and a small nath. She paired the look with gold, pink and green bangle stacks and haath phool added stars to her look. She also donned an elaborate baaju bandh, kamarband, payal and toe rings to complete her look.
Rekha styled her hair in a sleek yet luscious braid. She adorned them with golden hair accessories and floral embellishments. She added a golden gota lace in a criss-cross pattern on her braid and completed the look with a parandha. The accessories added a regal and traditional touch to the attire, complementing the theme of the entire shoot. For her glam, Rekha opted for a flawless matt base with contoured cheeks and a delicate hint of blush. Her eyes are accentuated with dark kohl liner and bold winged eyeliner, making her doe-eyes look even more prominent and magnetising. She added a gold eyeshadow to match the embroidery of her dress. She completed the look with her statement red lips, a small bindi and aalta on her feet.

The look Rekha flaunted took us back in time to the 1981 film, Umrao Jaan. The traditional outfit and jewellery, paired with Rekha’s elegance and forever-green expressions, reminded us of the periodic musical drama. The film was based on the 1905 novel, Umrao Jaan Ada and shared the story of a tawaif and poet from Lucknow. Dabboo Ratnani further shared the pictures on his Instagram handle with the famous song from the film, In Aankon Ki Masti, which added to the element of the shoot.
