Speaking with 9honey Celebrity, Simpson opened up about the opportunity to star in a musical Down Under.
“I’ve never done something like this in Australia before, so it’s pretty exciting, and we get to do it on the harbour, which is iconic,” he confessed.
Simpson added, “We’re kind of pinching ourselves. Every night looking at the harbour and the Opera House and stuff and pinching ourselves that we get to work where we do, it’s pretty awesome.”

Guys & Dolls is one of the most successful Broadway shows ever, telling the story of high-roller Sky Masterson, played by Simpson, and his life in the New York underworld.
The production, which opened to the public on Friday, March 21, has drawn swarms of Sydneysiders to the harbour to get a glimpse of the show and its incredible cast.
As Simpson made his debut performance in the fan-favourite musical, he was joined by his “family”, including his partner of almost three years, Olympian Emma McKeon and his siblings Tom and Alli Simpson.

As Guys & Dolls is set outdoors on Sydney Harbour, Simpson’s co-star Annie Aitken has one piece of advice for attendees.
The actress tells 9honey, “Check the weather forecast,” as the show must go on, rain or shine.
Simpson, however, says performing on stage is “actually quite thrilling,” revealing performers have to switch out their “fancy” shoes for Volley canvas shoes.

“It was very exciting like it’s, you know, where else are you gonna be able to do that and like the show goes on regardless of the weather and everyone was really excited,” Simpson added before sharing a highlight from the show.
“It started raining like during my last number and I [did a] air punch-like move at the end and the rain’s coming down and it just felt so iconic,” Simpson reminisced.
Guys & Dolls is available to watch at the Sydney Opera House until April 20, 2025.
