The Kunal Kamra row has become a wildfire, with politicians and celebrities picking sides over one another. Two of the most prominent names that have clashed since the incident are filmmaker, Hansal Mehta and actress-politician, Kangana Ranaut, and this has brought up some past topics for Kangana. During the act, Kunal joked about Maharashtra deputy chief minister, Eknath Shinde.
Hansal Mehta reacts to Kangana Ranaut calling him bitter and stupid
After the joke, the studio where Kunal Kamra performed was vandalised and later demolished by the BMC. Hansal Mehta, who has been vocal about the incident, condemned what had happened. However, some people questioned why he didn’t speak up for Kangana Ranaut when her house was demolished. This started a back-and-forth of fiery exchange between Kangana and the filmmaker.
Kangana Ranaut also reshared Hansal Mehta’s tweet and shared how she had to face abuse and watch her home get torn down. She revealed that she was threatened and her house was illegally demolished. She further criticised Hansal and called him bitter and stupid. She also asked him to stay out of matters related to her ordeals. Hansal responded to her tweet and said, “Get well soon.” Kangana’s tweet read:
“They called me names like h*******r, threatened me, served notice late in the night to my watchman, and the next morning before courts could open, bulldozers demolished the entire house. The high court called the demolition completely illegal. They laughed at it and raised a toast to my pain and public humiliation. It seems your insecurity and mediocrity have not only made you bitter and stupid, but it has blinded you as well. It’s not some third class series or atrocious films that you make, don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in the matters related to my ordeals, stay out of it.”
What had Hansal Mehta said about Kangana Ranaut’s house being demolished
Hansal Mehta quoted a tweet from an unverified account and criticised society for not allowing comedians to share their views. In contrast, people like the one unverified account used vulgar language openly. A user found this extremely hypocritical of Hansal and asked him where he was when Kangana’s house was demolished. Hansal once again took to X and shared a tweet stating:
“Was her house vandalised? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don’t know the facts.”

Kangana Ranaut’s house demolition in 2020
The questions being raised date back to the incident that happened in 2020. According to reports back then, the former Maharashtra chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena’s Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished alleged illegal portions of Kangana Ranaut’s Bandra Bungalow. However, there were speculations that the demolition occurred because of her war of words with Uddhav and the Shiv Sena. On March 25, 2025, Hansal shared his support for Kunal Kamra and recalled how he was assaulted and forced to apologise for his 2000 film, Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar. He also recalled how his office was vandalised by the then-undivided Shiv Sena.
