The crown prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashi AI Maktoum’s wife, Sheikha Shaikha Bint Saeed Bin Thani AI Maktoum, gave birth to their fourth child, a baby girl, on March 22, 2025. The couple gave her a special name ‘Hind’ to give honour to Sheikh Hamdan’s mother, Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma AI Maktoum.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan, announced the birth of his fourth child on Instagram. He prayed to God to grant his daughter a heart filled with love and a tongue that remembers him, and she will always stay healthy and well. He wrote:
“O Allah, grant her a heart filled with Your love and a tongue that remembers You, and increase her in Your light and guidance, and clothe her in the garments of health and well-being.”

Further, Sheikh Hamdan also announced his daughter’s name, ‘Hind’. He chose the name to honour his mother, Sheikha Hind, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. He also directly linked his newborn daughter to her esteemed lineage.
For those who don’t know, Hind hold much significance in Arab and Muslim cultures. It symbolises strength, prosperity and resilience. The name is rich in historical and cultural importance and is associated with a lot of abundance.
People don’t know that it is a cultural practice of naming children after esteemed family members to honour their ancestors and carry forward their legacies. Not only this, the name ‘Hind’ also has historical reference to the Indian subcontinent, known as ‘AI-Hind’ in Arabic. The name has extensive geographical and cultural connotations. Another interesting fact about the name ‘Hind’ is that it is referred to a ‘hundred camels’ which is a sign of wealth and prosperity in ancient Arabia.

For the unversed, Sheikh Hamdan first welcomed twins in 2021. He was blessed with a son, whom he named ‘Rashid’, and a baby girl, whom he gave the name ‘Sheikha’. It was in 2023 that the crown prince of Dubai was blessed with a third child, a son, and named him Mohammed.

Sheikh Hamdan has been serving as the Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008. he also hold key position as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE. He is the second son of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid AI Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan married his cousin, Sheikha Shaikha, in 2019. Their wedding was held in a joint ceremony with his brothers, Sheikh Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmad. His wife is the daughter of Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and she is a member of Dubai’s ruling AI Maktoum family.
