Saweety Boora is one of the most celebrated boxers in India. The 32-year-old boxer competes in the middleweight class and is considered among the most fearsome female boxers in the country right now. The ace boxer is leading all the headlines and trending on social media for some unfortunate reasons. For the uninitiated, Saweety is married to Deepak Niwas Hooda, who is the former captain of the Indian Kabbadi team.

The couple got married on July 7, 2022, and since then, they’ve been posting cutesy pictures with each other on their respective Instagram handles. The reason why Saweety Boora is trending on social media is because she has accused her husband, Deepak Niwas Hooda, of being interested in men. Yes! You read it right. The ace boxer uploaded a video on social media where she was spotted crying while sharing shocking details about her husband, Deepak.

In the video, Saweety Boora said that she never wanted to disclose the fact that her husband, Deepak Niwas Hooda, is gay, but despite her multiple warnings, he continues to do what he is doing. The boxer also added that she has some videos of Deepak that clearly prove that he is interested in men. Sweety further shared that she would go to court and prove her accusations against him. She said:
“I don’t want to talk about such things. He has interest in boys. I have seen the videos. I was shocked. I will prove everything in court. I will give all the evidence. I will prove what all things he made me do.”
Further, in the same video, Saweety Boora also shared that she wants to give divorce to her husband, Deepak Niwas Hooda. However, he continues to make it tough for her, as per the boxer’s claim in the video. Saweety also added that she was unable to speak to her parents about her husband’s sexuality. She also never wanted to disclose these things on social media, but due to her husband’s rigid nature, Saweety decided to take this step. She said:
“I wanted a simple divorce. I can’t even talk about such things with my parents. But this person has done such things, which has made me speak on social media.”

It was on February 25, 2025, when Saweety Boora filed an FIR against her husband, Deepak Niwas Hooda and in her complaint, she accused him of dowry and domestic violence. Sharing details of the same, Saweety added that Deepak demanded a luxury car from her and had also beaten her for monetary demands. Due to such severe accusations, the case was registered under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The SHO of the women’s police station where Saweety filed a complaint interacted with the media and said:
“A demand for a luxury car was made and met, but her husband beats her, also raises monetary demand.”
After the FIR was lodged against Deepak Niwas Hooda, the legendary Kabbadi player received 2 to 3 notices from the police, but he didn’t turn up. When PTI contacted Deepak, the Asiad bronze-winning Kabaddi player shared that he was traumatised due to everything that had happened. He also added that he would not publicly say anything negative about his wife. He said:
“I have submitted a medical certificate and requested a later date. I will certainly go there (to the police station) but I won’t make a negative comment against my wife. I have not been allowed to meet her.”
A video of Sweety Boora and Deepak Niwas Hooda is also making waves on social media for all the unfortunate reasons. In the video, Saweety can be spotted beating her husband despite being inside the police station. The family members can be seen stopping the boxer from raising his hands on Deepak.

Amidst all the chaos around Saweety Boora and Deepak Niwas Hooda’s divorce case, not everyone is aware of their respective contribution to the country. For the uninitiated, Saweety won a Gold in the 2023 World Championship and a silver in the same competition in 2014. She also won gold, silver, and bronze in Asian Championships in 2022, 2015, and 2021, respectively. In 2017, Saweety received the prestigious Bhim Award from the Haryana government.
Talking about Saweety Boora’s husband, Deepak Niwas Hooda, is one of the best Kabbadi players ever. He was a part of the team that won the 2016 Kabbadi World Cup. He also won gold in the 2017 Asian Kabbadi Championship, the 2018 Dubai Kabbadi Masters, and the South Asian Games (2016 and 2019).
