Rajiv Thakur has been a part of The Kapil Sharma Show since 2016. The comedy show changed his life, and now he is in a position where he does not compromise at all with luxuries. Recently, the actor spoke about his equation with host, actor and comedian, Kapil Sharma and remembered how, as a child, he had to share 50 grams of Amul Butter packet with his siblings when he grew up in Amritsar. The actor has had a humble upbringing, and despite being born into a family where he was struck by poverty, he dreamt big in life to achieve success.
Rajiv Thakur remembered his childhood struggles
Rajiv, earlier in an interview with the Dost podcast, shared that he never compromises on the luxuries of his life, even if that means turning down money. Rajiv remembered how he loved Amul butter and every Sunday ritual encompassed getting a small packet of the same that he used to get for his siblings. In his words:
“I have always been fond of Amul butter, and every Sunday we would get one 50 gm packet, and I used to share that with my brother and sister. Because I have seen those difficult times, and because now I am in a better position, I always have butter.”
Rajiv further shared that he made all the ends meet by working at his dad’s shop. He revealed that he made ends meet by working in his dad’s shop and also taught him theatre in college. He started off his career in the Punjabi theatre industry, where he brushed his craft as a director and writer and then took the leap into the TV and cinema world. Rajiv also became famous when he did the comedy reality show, Hasde Hasande Ravo, where he became a second runner-up. However, it was with Comedy Circus that he got a break and made his way to further success.
Rajiv Thakur’s father had a thread factory
Rajiv, once in an interview with DNA, shared that his childhood was impoverished, and his family had to go through a lot of struggles. His dad was also removed from a position due to an arranged marriage. Rajiv had his share of struggles, and his father, after the birth of Rajiv, had to face a lot of hardships. A fire had broken that had destroyed his dad’s machinery, and a week-long rainstorm took place in his hometown.
