It is believed that she is the first convicted female serial killer in India. Already today, her name sends shivers.
The world has seen many horrible serial killers, and India is no exception. One of the most shocking cases is KD Kempamma, also known as Cyanid Malik. It is believed that she is the first convicted female serial killer in India. Already today, her name sends shivers.
Kempama was a resident of Kagalipuri, a village near Bangalore. She married the tailor and managed the activities. However, financial troubles led to its fall. Her business failed, her husband left her, and she was thrown out of the family house. Until 1998, she worked as a maid and made small thefts. But her crimes were soon accepted by a sinister turn.
She began to aim for women who attend temples, hunting those who looked unpleasant. Speaking as a useful leadership, she promised to solve her problems with special rituals. At the end of these rites, she would give them water, fired by cyanide. As soon as they died, she stole their values. Her first famous victim was the 30-year-old Mamat Rajan woman in 1999.
Kempam was first arrested in 2000 for theft and served only six months in prison. After her release, she resumed her crimes, killing five women in 2007. Police finally caught her in December 2008 while she tried to sell stolen jewelry. Working under the pseudonym Jama, she confessed to her crimes, showing that the robber was her main motive.
Kempam was sentenced to death for two murders, but one term was reduced to life imprisonment because of indirect evidence. Her story remains one of the most horrific in the criminal history of India.
