Dr. Dre’s legal drama with his former therapist has taken a new turn.
Dr. Charles J. Sophy, who is suing the music mogul for $10 million for civil harassment, has filed a deeply emotional declaration detailing the alleged distress caused by Dre’s threats, which the producer denies. The declaration, obtained exclusively by In Touch, was filed on March 14th in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Dr. Sophy, who was hired to assist in Dre’s divorce from Nicole Young, claims Dre began harassing him with menacing texts, despite not having communicated for over a year. One text, sent on April 25th, 2023, reportedly read, “Hey doc, of whatever the f**k you’re pretending to be. Just know this. I’m not going anywhere until you explain to me why you tried to talk [redacted] into saying negative things about me to the media. You’re a piece of s**t!!!” Another message allegedly stated, “[Redacted] told me something disturbing. You’re going to have to pay for that.”
In court, Dr. Sophy’s lawyer argued that Dre’s threats, combined with his history of violence, made it reasonable for Dr. Sophy to fear for his safety. The Aftermath Entertainment founder dismissed these accusations, denying that he sent any threatening messages or that they were directed at the doctor’s sexual orientation. Dre’s lawyer also contended that Dr. Sophy failed to exercise proper caution and care, arguing that the claims should be dismissed.
In his declaration, Dr. Sophy revealed that Dre’s actions led him to install security cameras, hire private security, and even wear a bulletproof vest. He described living in constant fear, stating, “I am afraid to leave my home, and I am constantly looking over my shoulder.”
The case is ongoing.
