Ajay Devgn raised the bar with his intense portrayal of a righteous officer in the first instalment of the film, Raid. The 2018 release was based on the real-life income-tax raid conducted by the officers of the Income Tax Department, which was marked as the longest raid in Indian history. After winning the hearts of the audience and appreciation from the critics for the film, the makers brought back the thrill with its second instalment.
Ajay Devgn’s thunderous uproar against Ritesh Deshmukh
‘Amay Patnaik’ is back with another battle, essayed by none other than Ajay Devgn; the film will showcase his war against a corrupted politician, ‘Dada Manohar Bhai’, who will be played by Ritesh Deshmukh. After throwing the tainted ‘Rameshwar Singh’ behind bars Ajay will be seen fighting off the corrupt empire of a politician who will try and scare him at every turn. Yet for a righteous officer like Ajay’s character, after conducting 74 successful raids, threats will prove to be nothing but hollow words.
The trailer starts with ‘Dada Manohar Bhai’s’ man asking ‘Amay’, “Do you see the armed men inside?” To which he replies, “Do you see the government officials outside?” underscoring the power of the law and his belief in it. But the task is not simple. “The CM doesn’t really run the government there; Dada Bhai does.” Ajay is warned by the man. Kickstarting the thrilling adventure of Raj Kumar Gupta’s upcoming crime thriller, Raid 2.
While the film follows a similar concept of diving deep into the dark and corrupt alleys of the Indian system, it presents a whole new vision to the political lens with the blend of inextricably. It presents the narrative as a high-stakes drama. However, the question remains: will Ajay be able to uncover the dark truth of the political scene, or will Riteish win this hand with his villainous genius?

The trailer offers a glimpse into the power, politics and punchlines that the audience will witness once the film is released in the theatres on May 1, 2025. Offering a final jab between Ajay and Riteish’s characters as ‘Amay’ says, “You are bound to get angry when you get entrapped in the Chakravyuha.” ‘Bhai’ responds by adding, “Since when did the Pandavas start laying the Chakravyuha?” At that moment, Patnaik reminds him that he is not just the ‘Pandavas’ but the entire Mahabharat.
Netizens react to the trailer
As soon as the trailer was released, netizens took to the comment section to share their views on the same. A comment said, “Whenever Ritesh plays a villainous role, I immediately know he will cook something special.” Another said, “Riteish Deshmukh ka villainous look pure chills de raha hai.” A user pointed out Ileana D’Cruz’s absence from the film and said, “Ileana D’Cruz was a perfect cast for the first part of the raid. At least, she looked like a common man’s wife. Vaani Kapoor looks like a wife who is too modern. I hope this movie surprises us. Ajay is always a common man, but Ritesh is interested in seeing him. All the best to the Raid 2 movie team.”
