Blink-182 rocker Mark Hoppus has spoken candidly about his battle with lymphoma, revealing in a new interview that he didn’t think he was going to survive.
Hoppus, 53, a founding member of the iconic band, was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in 2021. But in September 2021 he announced he was “cancer free”.
Speaking to The Guardian, the musician admitted: “I really thought I was going to die.”

“And, in a way, it absolutely was so freeing.”
He spoke about how difficult going through treatment was and admitted it “crushed me for months”.
“The physical pain and exhaustion of the chemo, mixed with the steroids and all the other drugs, just crushed me for months on end,” he said.

In September 2021, Hoppus announced the good news that after his treatment, he was cancer free.
“Just saw my oncologist and I’m cancer free!! Thank you God and universe and friends and family and everyone who sent support and kindness and love,” he wrote in a post shared on Instagram at the time.

“Still have to get scanned every six months and it’ll take me until the end of the year to get back to normal but today is an amazing day and I feel so blessed.”
He previously told People about the depression he suffered amid his diagnosis and even the suicidal thoughts he had.
“I was in our living room crying and telling my wife, ‘I don’t know if I can do this,'” he recalled.
“She was like, ‘Well, what are you going to do, kill yourself?’ And that’s exactly what I was thinking. It was pretty dark.”
