The Delhi Transport Department will soon start registering women for a new smart card.
Delhi’s government has recently announced that its free travel scheme for women will only be limited by Delhi residents. The new lifelong smart card will be introduced only for women who can benefit, officials said. The new system will replace the current pink ticket system, which was introduced by the previous AAP government in 2019. In the near future, the transport department will start registering women on a smart card, which will allow them unlimited free travel on public buses in the city.
“We strive to provide this service for women. Corruption will not be allowed. We will present digital cards for women, putting an end to” pink corruption “related to physical tickets,” said Chief Minister Echu Hupto during the budget session. According to the current system, women were provided with one -time pink tickets for one trip, and the government offered bus operators based on the volume of tickets that were issued. The BJP government in the national capital is now planning to launch a smart card scheme in the coming weeks.
Last month, CM Gupta postponed Rs 12 952 for Delhi’s public transport system in 2025-26 years compared to Rupees 9 337 a year earlier. She said the purpose is to increase the reliability and reputation of the system.
