The White Lotus has become one of the most loved dark comedy-drama series over the years. The series was released in 2021 and follows the exploitation of guests and staff during their stay at a fictional high-end resort, ‘The White Lotus’. The first season was filmed and set in Hawaii, the second in Sicily, and the third in Thailand. While the series itself is one to get you hooked, fans often wonder how much their favourite cast is being paid for the show.
The White Lotus cast salaries
The White Lotus has an elaborate cast for its third season, with Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey and Scott Glen, among others, as the main cast. However, the question remains: how much is each of the cast members paid for their role? Well, let’s dive in and find out how much the cast is taking home.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the creator, Mike White, has shared how much each of the cast at The White Lotus is paid. During the conversation, he revealed that every single member is treated the same way on the show and, despite their experience in the industry, was paid the exact same amount. He added that roughly 40,000 USD was paid for each episode to the cast. This made it come to a grand total of 320,000 USD for the season, which included a total of eight episodes. He stated:
“Everyone is treated the same on The White Lotus. They get paid the same, and we do alphabetical billing, so you’re getting people who want to do the project for the right reasons, not to quote The Bachelor. It’s a system we developed in the first season because there was no money to make the show.”
In the same conversation, casting director, Meredith Tucker revealed that this equal pay made things extremely easy for them. She added that some people reject the show for the pay, and they can’t hold it against someone else for trying to earn their living. She shared that her series regulars were in it for the scale. She was quoted as saying:
“It makes it so much easier. You tell people this is what it is. And some won’t do it – and honestly, you can’t hold it against people who need to make a living. Our series regulars are pretty much doing this for scale.”

The salary at The White Lotus is non-negotiable
The Hollywood Reporter further revealed that their source had confirmed that the salary at The White Lotus was non-negotiable. They shared that when Woody Harrelson was initially signed to do the role of ‘Rick Hatchett’, he wanted to negotiate the pay. He even went all the way to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to see if his salary could be negotiated, but he was shot down. The source further added that while Woody accepted the role, he later had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, and the part went to Walton Goggins, who previously appeared in The Shield, Django Unchained, and Fallout.
