Television actress, Akangsha Rawat, known for her roles in RadhaKrishn and the ongoing show, Shiv Shakti, is stepping into a new phase of life. The actress was earlier married to TV actor, Piyush Sahadev, but they parted ways and legally ended their marital journey through a divorce in 2024. In a recent interview, Akangsha opened up about her moving on after her divorce from Piyush, revealing that she is finally ready to find a true companion.
Akangsha Rawat says she’s ready for a new companion
In a recent conversation quoted by TOI, Akangsha talked about her life after her divorce from her ex-husband, Piyush Sahadev. The RadhaKrishn fame candidly shared that she is currently living her best life, having bought her own home in Mumbai, but she is no longer in a cordial touch with Piyush as things ended bitterly for them. Akangsha said:
“We got divorced last year and I am currently in the best phase of my life right now. I am working, bought my own house in Mumbai and have the freedom to pursue my dreams. Piyush and I are not friends like many continue to be cordial after their divorce, but I wish him well, because we have both suffered a lot.”
Further in the conversation, Akangsha added that she is finally in that phase of her life where she can see herself falling in love again. But this time, her priority is finding a stable long-term partner so she can grow and evolve again. She was quoted as saying:
“I am now finally ready to find a companion and fall in love. I don’t know if I want to get married but I do wish to find a stable long-term partner. I think that’s the only way we truly evolve and grow. After having lost so many close friends, my mother, my marriage, my money, I have still survived and taken charge of my life!”
Akangsha’s reflection on marriage
Akangsha’s divorce from Piyush Sahdev made headlines last year. In an earlier interview with ETimes, she revealed that the actor had cheated on her within six months of marriage. After suffering so much heartache and difficulties during her marriage with Piyush, Akangsha’s perspective of marriage has changed. She no longer believes marriage to be the endgame, but rather wants a partner who can be a true companion. Reflecting on her failed marriage, Akangsha said that despite everything, she has found happiness and lives a peaceful life. In her words:
“Being married is not everything for a woman. It is important to have a good partner, a good career, financial independence and a balanced life. One needs to pursue hobbies and have good friends. If marriage works, it’s great, but if it fails, you can still be very happy, as long as you keep working on other aspects of life. My marriage ended but life did not end. I have been able to live a good, peaceful life.”
On the work front, Akangsha currently plays ‘Diti’, the mother of the Asuras, in the Colors TV serial, Shiv Shakti.
