Renowned television actress, Chahatt Khanna, best known for her roles in the popular serials, Bade Acche Lagte Hai and Qubool Hai, recently opened up about the various ups and downs of her personal life. During a candid chat on Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, the actress bared her heart out, addressing the social stigma attached to her for having two broken marriages at only 38 years of age.
Chahatt Khanna on being judged for her failed marriages
During the conversation, Chahatt Khanna became candid about her tumultuous past, including her two broken marriages. Talking about how people automatically start assuming Chahatt to be at fault, given her multiple failed marriages as she was the common factor in both, the actress shared:
“People have many preconceived notions, and sometimes we also have to give them the benefit of the doubt. People presume that because not one but two of her marriages failed, the girl would be the problem. Because people say that I was the common person in both divorces, so I might be the problem. So, because of this, I have to constantly make people understand, and now I am tired of doing it. But now I am like, okay, bring it on, I am the bad guy. How many people would you convince at the end of the day?”
Chahatt Khanna’s first marriage
Talking about her first marriage, Chahatt revealed she tied the knot when she was just 19 years old. She had fallen in love with her first husband at 16, and their whirlwind romance quickly spiraled into a nightmare. Within just four months of marriage, they parted ways, ending the relationship on a bitter note. Talking about her first marriage, Chahatt said:
“It was my first love, and then we got married. It was very old-school, and we met on the street. I was 16, and at 19, I got married… Family was not happy because I was too young, and now that I look back at it, they were right to think so. The marriage lasted for 4 months, and we got divorced after that. There was harassment of all sorts.”

Chahatt Khanna was allegedly brainwashed to covert to Islam for her second marriage
Chahatt’s second marriage was to Farhan Mirza, son of veteran actor, Shahrukh Mirza, which lasted five years. Even though the marriage lasted longer, it brought more turbulence into the actress’s life, though the couple shared two daughters.
Chahatt has since accused Farhan of sexual and mental harassment and claimed in an interview that she was also “brainwashed into converting to Islam”. Earlier, in an interview with Telly Talk India, Chahatt said:
“I don’t know what that was but haa keh sakte hai. That’s why I say thankfully I’m back home. I was told not to worship my God, and probably that was not the correct way. Now I know what’s wrong and right.”
Since her divorce, Chahatt has been leading a happy and peaceful life as a single mom to her two daughters. She had found her way back to her Sanatan roots, and she also admitted to be in a happy relationship.
