More than 2,000 users have reported violations in United Payer Interface (UPI) services – a daily paid payment platform in India.
According to the Downdetector – Internet tracker, in which users can report the shutdown – complaints reached the maximum of 2355 to 13:00. Several social media platforms, including X (previously Twitter), were also flooded with messages that emphasize unsuccessful payments and transactions. Leading UPI apps such as Google Pay, Phonepe and Paytm have influenced the shutdown. A number of bank applications, including the State Bank of India (SBI) and Bank ICICI, also encountered technical problems.
A statement about NPCI questions
The National Corporation of India’s Payments (NPCI) is a state -owned UPI network – said in a report on the X working to address this issue.
“Currently, NPCI is faced with intermittent technical issues, which leads to the fact that the partial UPI operation is declining. We are working on solving the problem and will keep you updated,” NPCI said. “We regret the inconvenience.”
Spike in the UPI shutdown
On Saturday, the sixth major UPI shutdown over the last year, and the third such shutdown in three weeks.
As a result of the shutdown on March 26, UPI services remained almost three hours. The last violations of the services occurred on April 2, when hundreds of disabling reports were on the Downdector site.
