Although BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi fought the same goal for the rights of oppressed castes in India, but their ways were quite different.
Ambedkar believed that untouchability could not be removed without completely eliminating the caste system. Gandhi – A religious Hindu -untouchability was seen only as the sin of religion which could be cured through reforms. Here is a glimpse of the relationship between the two leaders on this relevant issue.
Ambedkar admitted that he could represent Gandhi better classes because he was his own.
The depressed classes included Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of India.
