In 2024, Nita Ambani wore a magnificent necklace for the wedding festivities of her son, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar. The three-day celebrations were graced by several A-lister Bollywood celebrities, renowned politicians and business personalities from across the world.
For the hastakshar ceremony, Nita Ambani picked a Kanchipuram saree on March 3, 2025. The saree was desigend by famous designer, Manish Malhotra in collaboration with Reliance’s retail brand, Swadesh. However, along with the saree it was Nita Ambani’s emerald-studded diamond necklace that left everyone in awe.
The goregous necklace featured two huge green emerald stones on top of each other, and were set in an intericately designed diamond stetup with layeres of tiny emerald and diamond detailings on the chain. According to ETimes, Nita Ambani’s magnificient necklace was worth Rs. 500 crore. When it is converted into American dollar, it turns out to be 60 Million US Dollar.
While the necklace left our jaws dropped, within a few weeks of the celebration came another news that Nita Ambani’s same necklace was being sold at just Rs. 178. The post was shared by famous businessman and chairperson of RPG Enterprises, Harsh Vardhan Goenka on his social media handle, X.
Jaipur-based jewellery brand sold Nita Amabni’s huge emerald neckpiece for just Rs. 178
Harsh Vardhan shared a video of a jeweller from Jaipur selling a replica of Nita Ambani’s precious stone necklace at a price of Rs. 178. Not only this, the jeweller sold the same design in many different colours, not just emerald green, which was worn by Nita Ambani. Harsh Vardhan shared the video with the caption:
“Ab kya boloon! #marketing.”
The video went viral in 2024, and several people took a hilarious jibe at India and their art of replicating expensive things. Many people lauded the jeweller for fulfilling the dreams of many women to wear jewellery like the famous Nita Ambani. Another user commented, “India is not for beginners”.
Some of the users even wondered if the jeweller would face any legal altercations, but it seems like no one bothers about these famous designs being replicated. After all, Delhi’s famous Chandini Chowk market is filled with replicas of famous designers such as Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s bridal pieces. The Jaipur-based jeweller just made the staggering priced emerald neckpiece affordable for every woman.
