The “Divorce in the Black” star made the revelation during her recent appearance on “The Jason Lee Show.” While both Good and Franklin have spoken highly of one another on countless occasions, in the interview, Good plainly stated, “He left me.”
“What I can say is, it’s not that anybody did anything wrong. I can’t say that he f**ked that up and I can’t say that I f**ked that up,” Good explained.
“We grew from it,” she continued. “I don’t think that any time was wasted. I think that everything in life, every single season, you do learn so much, and you do grow so much, and you give so much, and you do get so much.” She added that her relationship with Franklin changed her “perspective” on life and taught her to prioritize peace: “It’s my conscious mind in every single season to choose what best serves my quality of life and best serves the other person’s quality of life.”
Good and Franklin met while filming “Jumping the Broom” and wed on June 16th, 2012. They even co-authored “The Wait,” a self-help book advocating celibacy until marriage. Sadly, their divorce was finalized in June 2022. Franklin is now engaged to Maria Castillo, while Good married Jonathan Majors in March 2025.
Good also reflected on her divorce during a separate chat with “Club Shay Shay.” There, the 43-year-old admitted, “My divorce shook me to my core…I tried to do everything to the best of my ability…I don’t know if I could do anything differently if I’m being honest,” adding “My greatest fear was that my husband would leave me after 10 years of marriage…and that’s exactly what happened.”
