The 2025 Met Gala is just on the horizon, though this year’s star-studded red carpet is set to be different.
It’s the biggest evening for fashion lovers, but the charity event and fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, has welcomed a new list of A-listers to transform the coveted event.
The theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was announced in October 2024.
Here’s who you can expect to see strutting their stuff on the most desired red carpet of the year.

Who decides on the Met Gala guest list and seating plan?
As the Met Gala’s party planners rush to finalise the guest list and infamous seating chart, Eaddy Kiernan, the woman tasked with organising the event, revealed how it’s done.
“We start with a seating document when the names come together in December,” she told Vogue.
“The actual seating chart doesn’t come together until about a month before the event, when we get a sense for the layout of the room, and the flow of the evening.”

The event aims for its guests to enjoy themselves while making new connections.
“We really try to think very carefully about who’s sitting next to each other,” Kiernan said.
“Our ideal pairing would maybe be two people who we think will just get on like a house on fire but who may not even realise that they have a lot in common.
“So with each person, we really do take time to think, ‘What will they talk about?'”

“We try and think a lot about sight lines and where people have sat in the past. And we try to make sure someone isn’t staring into the eyes of a former flame,” Kiernan explained.
When is the Met Gala for 2025?
The Met Gala will be held on May 5 (Tuesday, May 6, in Australia) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It is held each year on the first Monday of May.
