After staying silent over their bond and not talking at public events for a long time, the duo’s candid interaction stole the limelight. Apart from their equation, several fans felt that the meeting gave Jab We Met vibes. In a recent interview, the film’s director, Imtiaz Ali, shared his reaction to Shahid and Kareena’s meeting at IIFA 2025 in Jaipur.
Imtiaz Ali reveals people are demanding Jab We Met sequel with Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor
The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) was held at Jaipur on March 8 and 9, 2025. Amid several viral moments from the show, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor’s interaction became a highlight at the event. Many called it the Jab We Met reunion between Kareena’s ‘Geet’ and Shahid’s ‘Aditya’. The film’s director, Imtiaz Ali, recently sat down for an interview with PTI and opened up about it. Sharing his reaction to the meeting, he said:
“Actually, I find it very interesting that Shahid and Kareena met up in IIFA, and people are talking to me about Jab We Met. Shahid has said that he thinks that I have moved on, but I think that everybody has moved on. It’s been a long time since Jab We Met.
The filmmaker added that Jab We Met has continued to receive love from audiences, and the recent interaction between the film’s lead actors has intensified the demand for the film’s sequel. However, he doesn’t intend to hamper the love by making a sequel. Imtiaz recalled that he had a great time working on the film with those actors but confirmed a sequel is not on the cards. In his words:
“I’m not really planning a movie with Shahid and Kareena per se, but it’s great that they met and they’re both very fantastic actors. I obviously had the greatest time working with both of them.”

Apart from Imtiaz, Shahid Kapoor also reacted to his interaction with Kareena, creating a stir online. Since the duo seemingly ignored each other at previous public events, fans felt their conversation was special. However, while interacting with the media at the event, Shahid revealed that it wasn’t something new, and they used to interact with each other like they did that day. Shahid can be quoted as saying:
“For us, it’s nothing new…aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte hai, but it’s totally normal for us…if people felt nice, it’s nice.”
