They tied the knot back in December 2024, and within a few months of making their relationship official, their unwavering love and support for one another impressed fans. From cheering on each other’s professional endeavours to staying strong through criticism, they have overcome a lot in their relationship. Many netizens used to allege that Sobhita is the reason behind Naga Chaitanya and his ex-wife, Sobhita Dhulipala’s divorce, making her a troll target. However, the actor shared that it wasn’t true because he met Sobhita organically through Instagram. He didn’t share much then but in a recent interview, the couple shared exactly how they came across each other and when they fell in love.

Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya recently sat down for an interview with Vogue India and opened up about her love story. The couple, who share the same native language and profession, weren’t unfamiliar as they lived in different cities. He used to stay in Hyderabad, and she lived in Mumbai, but one day, she held an Ask Me Anything session on Instagram when a fan asked her why she didn’t follow Naga Chaitanya on Instagram. Recalling the incident, she said:
“I found out during an Ask Me Anything. I was sifting through the questions when I saw one that asked, ‘Why aren’t you following Chay Akkineni?’ I was like, ‘What?’ So I went to his profile and saw that he was following only around 70 people, including me. I was a tiny bit flattered, so I followed him back.”
After following the Laal Singh Chaddha actor, his posts began appearing on her feed when she realised he co-owned a pan-Asian cloud kitchen called Shoyu that held her attention. They began texting one another, and in April 2022, Chay decided to meet Sobhita and booked a flight to Mumbai to have breakfast with her. Since The Night Manager actress was based in Mumbai, she previously didn’t plan to move to another city or marry someone from showbiz yet Chay changed things for her. Sharing her views, Sobhita said:
“We build up all these walls, but ultimately, when you feel seen, moved and beheld, you just want to lean into the feeling.”

In the same interview, Sobhita shared that she admired that Naga Chaitanya was ‘clear-headed, even-keeled and optimistic’. Also, she was in a phase of her career where she was ready to welcome someone in her life, and things fell into place. But she didn’t wanted to publicly accept or deny it because she wanted to sit with her feelings for some time before sharing it with the world. The actress shared that she didn’t expect Chaitanya to be grounded and someone who believes in the simple beauty of life due to his renowned family background. On the other hand, Naga Chaitanya said:
“In Mumbai, she’s the quintessential city girl—cool, hip, forward-thinking—but back home in Vizag, she’s deeply rooted in her culture.”

After meeting and feeling confident about each other, Sobhita and Naga Chaitanya felt they were meant to be together. Sobhita shared that there was no specific point when they fell in love; rather, it happened organically for them. They planned to tie the knot, and it was simple for him to meet her parents. She met his mom and father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and they received blessings from their elders. Consequently, Naga Chaitanya went down on his knees to propose to Sobhita Dhulipala. Nagarjuna announced the couple’s engagement, and they tied the knot in a traditional ceremony on December 4, 2024, at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad.
