Hugh Jackman has announced a surprising new career move; The Australian actor has launched his own theatre company.
Called Together, he has launched the company alongside Sonia Friedman, a respected British theatre producer.
Sharing the news with his 34 million followers on Instagram, the 57-year-old star wrote that Together is “a new company dedicated to live theatre that is intimate and accessible”.

“Every TOGETHER production will be driven by a commitment to offering audiences a chance to experience theater in a fresh and engaging way,” he added.
In a statement that was also shared in his Instagram post, it revealed that the Wolverine star and Friedman would be working with director Ian Rickson for plays.
“With director Ian Rickson we wanted to create a company where actors, writers, and directors could experiment, explore, and take risks, away from the pressures that are often associated with the commercial theatre world,” the pair said in a statement.

They added in part: “At the same time, this isn’t about our stepping away from Broadway or the West End, it’s about supporting and co-existing alongside them.”
Jackman has starred in a number of theatre productions himself, including The Boy From Oz, The Music Man and The River.
More recently, he announced a string of shows called Hugh Jackman Live From New York, With Love.

It will see the star perform songs from some of the productions he’s been involved in over the years.
Jackman will perform songs from The Greatest Showman and The Boy From Oz among others.
The Aussie star, who hails from Sydney, recently split from his actress wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.

He is believed to be dating Younger star Sutton Foster, 50, who he worked with on Music Man.
The pair have been spotted out and about together and even kissing in public.
