Anjali Anand opened up about her traumatic childhood experience
Anjali Anand won the hearts of her fans with her performance in Dabba Cartel. Recently, she sat for a candid conversation with Hauterrfly and recalled her traumatic childhood experience. The actress shared about her childhood encounter with a dance teacher who dictated her life for six years and how her first boyfriend saved her. The actress revealed that the dance teacher ‘tried to make her a family’.
During the interview, Anjali was asked if he had taken her to secluded places when he was trying to do something, and the actress agreed and added that he had tried to do everything. She recalled that she was only eight years old and her father had passed away. She added that the teacher told her that he was her father and she believed him. She was quoted as saying:
“I didn’t know what to do. I was eight, just after my dad passed. He told me, ‘I am your dad,’ and I believed him because I didn’t know any better. Then he started very slowly. He gave me a peck on my lips and said, ‘It is what dads do.'”
Anjali recalled how the teacher would dictate her life. She revealed that he wouldn’t allow her to keep her hair open or wear feminine clothes. The actress revealed that he would do all this to make her less attractive to others. She was quoted as saying”
“He wouldn’t let me keep my hair open. He wouldn’t let me wear girls’ clothes; he made me wear his old T-shirts so that I didn’t look appealing to others.”

Anjali Anand revealed how her first boyfriend saved her
In the same conversation, Anjali Anand shared how she got out of the teacher’s claws. She revealed that her father’s best friend’s son had come to her sister’s wedding and had a crush on her. She recalled talking to him and feeling normal, whereas she felt stuck with the teacher and his ways. She shared that this went on from when she was eight to when she was 14. She also thanked her first boyfriend for saving her and helping her escape from the nightmare. She was quoted as saying:
“When my sister got married and my dad’s best friend’s son came to the wedding, he had a crush on me and started talking to me. That’s when I thought, ‘This feels normal.’ I just felt stuck. He used to keep tabs on my itemised billing—he knew what messages I was sending. He caught me talking to this guy. He used to wait outside my school to pick me up. And everybody was like, ‘Why is he always there?’ But nobody even tried to see why.”
